Thumbs up Fraternity of St. Sebastian; Onward Christian soldiers!

Modern-day Christian knights!

The Fraternity of St. Sebastian is a military brotherhood, still in formation. We are recruiting young men, called to military life, to comprise the charter membership of a Public Association of the Faithful. In the fullness of time the Association will seek institution as a religious, military order. And rather than serving a state or civil government, our Corps will serve the Church.

Every year, worldwide, thousands of bishops, priests, missionaries and seminarians are persecuted and murdered because of their faith by enemies of the Gospel. Even in civilized parts of the world, senior churchmen have had to hire bodyguards, and pastors have needed security services to protect their flocks. We believe this implies an obligation, on the part of men who are strong and courageous, to protect them.

In his 12th century letter praising a small group of Christian knights, St. Bernard describes well the rare type of man we seek for our order:
Thus in a wonderous and unique manner they appear gentler than lambs, yet fiercer than lions. I do not know if it would be more appropriate to refer to them as monks or as soldiers, unless perhaps it would be better to recognize them as being both. Indeed they lack neither monastic meekness nor military might. What can we say of this, except that this has been done by the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes....

These are the handpicked troops of God, whom he has recruited from the ends of the earth; the valiant men of Israel... each man sword in hand, and superbly trained to war.

-- St. Bernard de Clairveaux

We seek young men from any walks of life to be Christian Soldiers. There is equal need for experienced military and protective services men, active duty or retired, to volunteer to educate our recruits in the martial arts, weapons, reconnaisance, field medicine, communications, protective service, and a dozen other specialties. If you believe you are called to an unusual and extraordinary life, a life of service and sacrifice built upon fraternity, courage and charity...

If you aspire to the virtues of chivalry and will train to be a man for others...

"Love for a man's own nation must not make a man into a wild animal, which tears down and provokes revenge; it must make him more noble, so that he can gain the respect and love of other nations for his nation. Therefore love toward your own nation is not contradictory to love for the whole of mankind; they complement each other. All of the nations are children of God."
--Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, 1938
