Default What political status for Brittany?

Quote:
The agreement which was negociated by the Lionel Jospin government and the Corsican elected representatives has opened the way for other regional claims. The Basques, the Alasatians, the people of Savoie and of course the Bretons, who are deep-set in the dogma of national unity within the Republican framework. [...]

Within the framework of all this intense reflection, the Télégramme has decided to take stock of the situation regarding these regional issues and the way in which they concern Brittany and other regions of Europe. It is also a good time to find out what the general public think about essential but vague questions such as independence, new authorities, the incorporation of Loire Atalantique into Brittany, and the teaching of the language. Of course. For example I don't want separate Brittany from France. I think that Brittany may be a part of France and Europe and have Breton as official language -with French-. Autonomy is the best for Brittany.
A few people (left extremists of Emgann and right europeist party Adsav) want independance for Brittany. I think they are wrong both but I prefere Adsav tahn Emgann obviously.

Hael, how can France ensure the preservation of the national identity of Breizh? As per its own definition, France represents everything that is the opposite to national identity preservation. As a matter of fact I view France as a smaller scale project of European Union. Or, to be more precise, the European Union is France on the large picture..

France can't ensure the preservation of her national identities for she's dead.

There are not official statut for the breton language.
You can read this thread:

Brezhoneg (The Breton Language)

Quote:
Outlawed Breton

Breton (and those who speak it) is thus formally outlawed. France, which recognizes the rights of the ethnic and linguistic minorities except on its own soil, has always refused to sign Article 27 of the Declaration of Civil and Political Rights which would obligate it to respect the linguistic rights of Bretons. Likewise, it refuses today to sign the European Charter of Indigenous Minority Languages.

And our media wants us to believe that democracy in Europe exists.
Is there any chance that Breton would be recognized as official language in the near future?

I am not very optimistic
But if Breton is not official, there is Breton teaching in some State schools, there is Breton on the roads and in the street ("da bep lec'h" = "toutes directions", etc.), there is a few Breton in the public TV and radio. It's very little but a lot of Breton people (may be "Breton" people would be better) don't want more for the national language. It's a pity !
The best answer to french State: Learn Breton and teach it (it's what I did and do myself)

Yes, but taking a closer look at the situation we notice the youth of today is less frightened by notions such as Nationalism & Separatism than the elderly people. This can partly be explained by the fact that the previous generations are contemporary with the PNB – Breton Nationalist Party which supported the Nazis - & and that people are not ashamed of being Bretons any more as well (On this subject France would consider Breton as a sub-language).

If you understand french :

Well, if Brittany was British like Wales or Scotland I could possibly be a autonomist (not independantist/separatist). There is little chance Brittany will win back its autonomy since it is under French rule ... Anne of Brittany had already done her utmost to keep it while today the French political community is against whatever if they are left or right wingers.
What about French nationalists ... Most of them prefer a Jacobinic France provided it is united, rather than a fragmented France with firmly rooted and independent Breton, Occitan or Corsican states.
And I don't even speak about France's traditional cultural assimilation which conflicts with English differentialism (Welsh and Scottish nationalities as opposed to Brittany as a mere region).
