Interceltic Festival 2005
Founded in Lorient (Britanny) in 1971, the
Interceltic Festival is the grand annual gathering of Celtic women and men active in the creative arts. Each year, in early August, 4500 artists come together in the Breton harbour town of Lorient. They come from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Cornwall, Asturia, Galicia and Brittany, as well as from the other world.
Each year a Celtic nation is the country of honour and puts forward its artists, culture, gastronomy and tourism.
This year
Ireland is the country of honour with a Special Evening, August the 6th, directed by Darach Mac Con Iomaire, with Sean Nós singer Róisín Elsafty, singer and song writer John Spillane, fiddle player Paddy Glackin, uillean pipes playerRobbie Hannan…
Various musical expressions will be presented: Uilleann Pipes concerts and Master Classes, sacred music, cabaret concerts… with Slí, Díorma, Cúnla, Drúcht, Liadàn, Críol, Cibeal Dancers…
Several workshops are organized: dance, music and Gaelic.
