Default Spending Midsummer in Scotland

Hi!

Usually I wouldn't leave home during my favourite holiday, but since it was the only time both me and my girl were free from work and other duties, we decided to go to Scotland during the week before midsummer.

I'm wondering about traditions and if and how the summer solstice is celebrated. We're going to spend most of our time in the southern parts, but not much is planned yet, so I hope to get some ideas!

Thanks.

I recommend you vist Glasgow and Edinburgh. You'll enjoy trips to other historical places such as Stirling Castle and Dumbarton Rock.

I would say stay away from a hotels in Glasgow and try for a room somewhere in Edinburgh.

It's a shame you wont be taking trips into the Highlands and Islands, as they are the best part of Scotland and I highly suggest trying to get a trip up north.

The highlands and Islands are the best part of scotland. My family originate from Perthshire.

Stirling Castle is a must see event, whilst in the area visit the Wallace monument, which is situated on a neolithic hill fort, the memorial was paid for privately by victorian donations and gives a spectacular view of the area. Whilst there visit Alloa and marvel at the whisky dens scattered around the countryside. The south of Scotland has a wealth of history to be discovered.
