Nothing much. It just kind of sits there getting in the way and making a mess.
But meh....it's Christmas. You're expected to put one up. I suppose it keeps people in a job.
Couldn't really care less about it to be honest though. Doesn't have any special meaning to me.

The traditions of the Irish people are the oldest of any race in Europe north and west of the Alps, and they themselves are the longest settled on their own soil
- Edmund Curtis (A History of Ireland: From Earliest Times to 1922)

The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth.
For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish.
- Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596).

The renaissance began in Ireland seven hundred years before it was known in Italy. And Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, was at one time the metropolis of civilisation.
- Arsene Darmesteter, Professor of Old French and Literature

Ireland can indeed lay claim to a great past; she can not only boast of having been the birthplace and abode of high culture in the fifth and sixth centuries . . . but also of having made strenous efforts in the seventh and up to the tenth century to spread her learning among the German and Romance peoples, thus forming the actual fountain of our present continental civilisation.

I don't like interior plants. All plants should be in the patio or in the garden. And, to be honest, I prefer the Lebanese cedar that I have outside in the garden. The jacaranda is also nice, but only once a year and for a short time, when it blossoms its purple flowers.

When celebrating Christmas with my family, we have one, but it has no significance to me.

Mynydd, I bought some Jacaranda (mimosifolia) seeds once, but I never had any luck growing them. I should give it another try.

I don't think that you can grow them in those latitudes. Even here they don't grow as well as in their native regions of Brazil.

None. I think that tradition was imported to Spain from Northern Europe. Our tradition here is "El Belén":

My apologies. You are right. The tree is an imported tradition from N. Europe. What I meant to say is that the Belén is imported from Italy, around the XVIth century.

Both. A donkey, a bull, Joseph, Maria, the wisemen (we wait before they come), and on the 25th after the mass we put the Christ in his "craddle". Well, it's how it should be done. Edit: and the barn of course.
