Where would you go?

Why would you go there?

And what would you do there?

Where would you go?
I would go to Lhasa, Tibet.

Lhasa, the capital of China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has a history of more than 1,300 years. It is the political, economic, cultural and transport center of the region.

Why would you go there?
For the rich spiritual traditions, to get inspired, see things from another angles, studies,

And what would you do there?
Deep meditation, short hikes in the mountain air, , visit holy places, temples, monks, communicate, rent a motorbike, check the bazar...

Milarepa is a keyword, Tibetan Buddhism's most renowned saint. Full of intrigue, disaster, and amazing feats, it is the heroic story of a man who transforms from an avenging black magician into a supremely powerful yogi, pointing the way to self-knowledge and liberation.
Quote:
It is the year 1050, and Milarepa is seeking vengeance on unscrupulous relatives for mistreating his mother and sister. Trained in sorcery, he commands a rain of scorpions, snakes, and lizards to attack the villains. But when his teacher rebukes him for his evil deeds, Milarepa renounces black magic to seek mystic truth. He retreats to a cave where, after years of intense meditation, he acquires the power to change his body into any shape and to fly across the sky like a bird. But most important, he achieves the greatest victory of alI-mastery over his own self. :

First choice, Norway.

This is the reason:

But any other place in the world would be good, even Mongolia. Antarctica. Siberia. Whatever. Any travelling experience is a useful one.

The moon.

Though the moon itself is barren and quite boring, it provides a wholly different perspective of the Universe and the Earth.

Armenia, to see the beautiful nature and the amazing architecture.

More realistically, I would like to visit Norway or Sweden again soon. It is unfair that they got all the mountains, and the Danes did not get any.

If I got a free ticket, and all expenses covered ? Since I can afford any trip in Europe, I guess I'd make a tour across the Orient (in winter, of course). I have already seen Morocco, so from Algiers to New Delhi and Pondichéry (former French colony in India) through Lybia, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestina, Jordania, Syria, Iraq, Persia.
I am particularly interested in Algeria, Iran and India. I just want to see.

The Temple of Luxor

Havent been there for 3000 years...
Time for a review?

Many festivals were celebrated in Thebes. The Temple of Luxor was the center of the most important one, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II, it appears that the temple's purpose was for a suitable setting for the rituals of the festival. The festival itself was to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with the divine office. During the 18th Dynasty the festival lasted eleven days, but had grown to twenty-seven days by the reign of Ramesses III in the 20th Dynasty. At that time the festival included the distribution of over 11,000 loaves of bread, 85 cakes and 385 jars of beer. The procession of images of the current royal family began at Karnak and ended at the temple of Luxor. By the late 18th Dynasty the journey was being made by barge, on the Nile River. Each god or goddess was carried in a separate barge that was towed by smaller boats. Large crowds consisting of soldiers, dancers, musicians and high ranking officials accompanied the barge by walking along the banks of the river. During the festival the people were allowed to ask favors of the statues of the kings or to the images of the gods that were on the barges. Once at the temple, the king and his priests entered the back chambers. There, the king and his ka (the divine essence of each king, created at his birth) were merged, the king being transformed into a divine being. The crowd outside, anxiously awaiting the transformed king, would cheer wildly at his re-emergence. This solidified the ritual and made the king a god. The festival was the backbone of the pharaoh's government. In this way could a usurper or one not of the same bloodline become ruler over Egypt. Source

I also like to hail the rising Ra from the pyramidion....
The Great Pyramid is the most substantial ancient structure in the world - and the most mysterious. More upon the pyramides here

Antarctica. It's always facinated me, ever since reading about Amundsen and Scott's expeditions as a kid. The penguins, the ice, the bleakness, the blizzards, everything. But unless I or a benefactor have £3,000 to spare I won't be going any time soon.
