Literature is literally an acquaintance with letters. The term has, however, generally come to identify a collection of texts. The word literature, as a common noun, can refer to any form of writing, such as essays; while Literature, the proper noun, refers to a whole body of literary work.

The visual arts encompass areas such as painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, photography, printmaking, many design disciplines, as well the decorative arts like textile art and metalwork.

The art or technique of making films; filmmaking. The industry of producing and broadcasting television programs.

The performing arts include theater, drama, comedy, music, dance, opera, magic, and the marching arts, such as brass bands, etc.

Arts and crafts comprise a whole host of activities and hobbies that are related to making things with one's own hands and skill.
