This is one of these sites. For example, this is where they quote a German historian, Ulrich Wilcken, from his book Alexander the Great, 1967: ![]() What Wilcken actually wrote about the ancient Macedonians: ![]()

![]() The year is 1014. On the one side we have King Samuil. He is Macedonian On the other side we have Basil II, who created the Macedonian dynasty in the Byzantine empire. So it's Macedonians versus Macedonians. A classic example for a civil war ![]()

This is from another site, just to show how delusional their (for want of a better word) nationalism has become, absolutely defies all logic and conventions:
Their priminister Gruevski has renamed their airport in Skopje as "Alexander the Great", the main square as "Pella" and the main road as "Philip". But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Here's a recent poster for a rally organised by their uber-'nationalists': ![]() Translation: FINAL WARNING Protest, square Pella, 27th February 2008, 19.00 O'Clock Macedonia. Macedonian. Macedonians. ONLY THAT ACCEPTED BY US: 7000 years of Macedonian literacy 3000 years of Macedonian land 2000 years of Christianity in Macedonia Yep, that is correct, they claim their documented language is over 7,000 years! Apparently, they claim it evovled from rock-carvings!!!

![]() Funny - or scary- thing is that these aren't things that posted by a minority, but theories that can be found at their government sites: The penetration of Slavic tribes towards the Balkans ended at the beginning of the seventh century and created a new situation – Macedonia’s population mixed with the Slav newcomers but retained the Macedonian name, traditions and culture Applying similar battle tactics as Alexander the Great in his numerous quests, Samuel managed to liberate the entire territory of ethnic Macedonia and even expand his kingdom through neighbouring territories reaching Danube in Bulgaria, Peloponnesus in current day Greece, Epirus and current day Albania, Zeta and Srem current day Serbia. At the peak of his kingdom, Samuel moved the seat of his kingdom from the island St. Achilles, Prespa to Ohrid where he was crowned king. In the period from 969 until 1018, a vast empire of the Macedonians emerged, second empire of the Macedonians after the empire of Alexander the Great, the Empire of King Samuel with its capital in Ohrid. Republic of Macedonia, Ministry of foreign affairs This is the stuff they discuss in their forums: ![]() Notice the thread titled “Are Scottsman Actually Macedonians?” ![]() Translation: Not are they, they are! They are Macedonian nobility families which fled to the big island with a purpose to preserve their wealth from the Roman conquest of Macedonia.....well take a look yourself they have the bagpipes, the pattern and cut on the clothing is similar if not the same as our traditional garb, only they have the volume and strength to play the game of throwing balks at distance, carrying a burden, rugby....everything is alike its just I don't know is there anybody of them who is having the same DNA as ours which would confirm that they are Macedonians. Not only that, but the skupis also claim to be God's chosen people: Why did Paul the Apostle come to preach the new idea first in Macedonia and not in some other European country? How shall we explain this fact? What was it that attracted the attention of this apostle? There can only be one explanation: Paul the Apostle was a brilliant man who knew very well that in order to spread his gospel successfully he should win over to his side a renowned and dignified nation, equal to the Romans in the strength of its spirit. In those ancient times Macedonia was such a nation. To deny the existence of Macedonia and the Macedonians means to deny the truthfulness of the Bible, and the work and the epistles of the greatest among the apostles, Paul. EMBASSY of the Republic of Macedonia in Canberra, Australia - About Macedonia It's a sin to deny them as the real "Macedonians"! They simply have lost the plot completely.
