Yet the Bulgarian language is Slavic, and the Bulgarians are at least partly descendants of Slavic peoples, who mixed with locals, just like our western neighbours in Serbia, for instance. Depending on which theory you trust, we can say that Bulgarians are culturally Slavo-Bolgar, Slavo-Turkic, Slavo-Pamiri, Slavo-Altaic or whatever term one finds fitting.
