They are all Semitic peoples. Lebanese probably Phoenicians, Jews, Arabs and other Middle East peoples. Whatever Semitic means in terms of genetics and anthro.. Orientalid? I think that it is wrong to mistake them as Arabs. It reminds me a bit of the anthro-simplified mindset in Spain, which divides the world basically like this:
  • Chinos: anyone with slanted eyes, little or much; even one of the Moroccan Moro detained with relation to the bomb attack in Madrid on March 11, 2004, was nicknamed El Chino
  • Moros: anyone wearing a towel or a fez on the head (yes, including those in the Bosnian SS Division), being of Muslim religion (even if he is a Chino or a racial European), or dressing with a funny stripped gown with sandals
  • Indios: native americans or part native americans; India's natives can be mistaken for Moros, especially if the head is wrapped up with a towel; anyone acting or dressing funny
  • Gitanos: all of them, but it could be an Anglo-Saxon Australian walking on his bare feet or an American White Trash with children with running noses
  • Guiris: they used to be the source income for Gitanos; aka Tourists; roughly equivalent to Gringos; they wear sandals like the Moros, but unlike the Moros they wear them with socks
  • Gabachos: you know those ones.. they have a serious problem to roll the /r/ and come with big supplies of a liquid which they call eau (and they pronounce like /o:/ or something), and which looks suspiciously like water; the worse Gabachos are those assimilated having Spanish surnames and communist ancestry

I avoid Lebanese restaurants, most of them are runned by Muslims. Better a notorious Muslim shop than a fake Christian one. I've to say their food is rather good, way better than Maghrebian's, not my favorite but still good.
I noticed that too of Lebanese. Even if they are Muslim they are likely to let you think that they are Christian refugees, for the sake of making a few euros. Little wonder that one can say "worse (tighter) than a Jew, a Phoenician".
