Not so sure, they don't teach us this in history. They just teach us when various ethnic groups could vote. Most were allowed by 1960 (I think that's the Native Americans that claim to be of a different nation anyways.. I won't get into this).
America probably has more of this stuff. Canada is just full of this shit. I say a few things about AIDS in a message group for "pagans" (read: Wiccans...

) and they go "OMG RACISM"... I didn't mention any nationalities at all. I mentioned the South African government...? That's pretty much all I can think of.
I think the main "ethnic" problem that has been in Canada since before it was even a nation is the Anglophone/Francophone problems... there was even terrorism in the 70ies (a few politicians died, I think). I believe, recently Quebec became a "nation" within Canada..
