You are assuming that the EU speaks with one voice. Which it doesn't.

The only two countries which would back the US without even asking would be Britain and The Netherlands. Other EU countries, even if they have in that precise moment a US-friendly government, they may see people on the streets opposing such an alliance. Fortunately pro-Americanism is not popular among most people in Europe.

Whatever its technology, China is not tiny Cuba, tiny Grenada, small Iraq, small Vietnam, etc.

So far the US have attacked countries which are very small or very weak. What makes you think that they will dare to attack one of its size.. even if technologically less advanced?

Besides, US power in the world is well on its way to decline.
