Not zionists for sure. While we can point out the pronounced Jewish character of some Russian mafia groups, it's not a Jewish organization by and large, if we're allowed to speak of such an entity at all. Actually it's not as hierarchical as one might believe it to be.
What's interesting is that Russian criminal slang borrowed a lot of words from Yiddish, which probably explains this nation's early inclinations towards taking control over the criminal activity in Russia. There's a whole musical genre called
'blatnaya pesnya' ('a criminal song') or sometimes rather ironically
'Russian chansons' (!), which is primarily derived from Jewish song and dance tradition.
