The attorney demanded a sentence of seven years of prison for a crime of terrorism for each of the four people accused of placing an explosive device in Les Cotxeres de Sants (Barcelona), where a concert of solidarity with ETA terrorist convicts was going to take place. The defence of the three people accused have requested a fine for public rioting, while the lawyer of a fourth accused, Óscar S., asks for the free release of his customer.
The Second Section of the Provincial Audience has taken over the case despite it being terrorism, which is always trialed by the National Audience, due to an appeal presented by the defence of the accused, where he shows that they did not belong to any armed group.
The events date back to March 2001, when the four accused presumably thought about making an explosive device with a pressure cooker to try to boycott a concert in Les Cotxeres de Sants, in the city of Barcelona, in favour of the ETA terrorist convicts, right after a series of terrosist attacks by ETA in Barcelona and of several detentions among Catalan idependentists for giving logistical support to the terrorist organisation.
Political links
Antonio T. assured that he knew about the device on the same day when they placed it and insisted in which, like the rest of his friends, it had not been planned ahead but it had been decided after a casual conversation.
Both Antonio T. and Ramon C. have insisted in that they made sure that there was no one in the surrounding area, because their intentions were not to cause material nor personal damages.
The four accused have admitted to belong to an association called Timbalers del Bruc. Sources of Minuto Digital have found out that such association would be linked to the entourage of the Moviment Patriótic Català, a very active group in Catalonia which has stood out for the defense of the Hispanic values against Catalan independentism.
