There is a film from 1993, entitled "And the Band Played On", which shows with great fidelity how it took place, starts with the initial investigations of virus identification, also talks about the opposition of the American government to announce it in the media when it already had a clear definition, and finally, the social alarm produced when it was made public. In some stretch of the beggining also makes an affirmation about who was the direct responsible of the first contagions in America (a client of public Gay baths) and which were the first attemps to stop its advance (Institut Pasteur, etc). Very interesting film I must say.
