Re: A radical solution for environmental pollution
HalloYes is very true that bacteria can work as catalyst of (usually ) organic toxic substances. The reality however is a little bit more hard. The environmental impact of an introduced new bacteria to a new environment need yet to be identified. Otherwise, the scientist might introduced worst pollution than the one intented to be removed since the new bacteria might be subjected to mutation or aggressive competition with the rest of the bacteria living in the environment and this can definetelly be a very bad thing. A better solution is currently the use of plants. Research is carried out for removal of heavy elements (cadmium, lead etc) ( I want it to say initially heavy metals but this i thought was to much ) with use of cannabis due to the parasitic nature of the plant to expand quickly to its environment and to soak every metal. Genetical modifications of the plant thez don't have any effect to nature since the plant is not really used (as far we know is what is called weak link ) by the ecological chain. Corvin
