Yes, a valid concern.

There are theories that the American pharmaceutical industry bought a valid cure for cancer in the late 1980s, but has been withholding it, while they try and develop therapies instead, as the money is in giving people an expensive pill the must take regularly to avoid death. A therapy like that could make lots of money.

I think those I have heard talk about this are a little paranoid, but I have checked some of the facts they have cited on research and publications and they have been correct, so I don't rightly know what to think.
