In most of Europe the conversion to Christianity seems to have changed little about what ordinary people believed because, though it wasnt pagan in the sense that people didnt identify themselves as Christians, northern Christianity wouldnt have been recognised as such by the Pope. So the situation would have been like that in the Caucasus, until this changed with the Reformation and the counter-Reformation.
