I was labelled a racist by a bunch of black ladies because I had an argument with one on the subway. They didn't even know each other but they teamed up against the evil white woman!
One lady, not the one I argued with, was on the subway with her daughter and it wasn't an empty car. Her daughter was lying down all the way in one of the long seats with her head on her mother's lap, and she wasn't sick or anything, she was listening to music and talking to her mother. I was standing and all this 5 people seat is otherwise empty so I sort of made an attempt to sit but she wouldn't move. Anyway, my friend was already sitting down, with loads of bags and I sort of squeezed next to him with even more bags, in a most uncomfortable position. We started talking amongst us, not in English, and this other lady got pissed at me, guessing that we were talking about the situation and said "You could have said excuse me!!", so I replied, "I didn't think anyone would need an excuse me for such an obvious thing, and why should I excuse myself because someone else is thoughtless?" Anyway the lady (or rather the woman) was pissed and she started threatening me, calling me racist, a cracker ass and all sorts of charming names. She made a gesture as she was going to hit me on the head as she was leaving the train, but she didn't actually hit me. I thought it was the most stupid thing, this woman to gang up with the other one just because she was black too. No "white" person on the train "came to my rescue". Not that I'd expect such a thing, it would be equally silly, I think.
So much for their racism claims.
