The "influences from the West" came mainly from Croatian and Slovene immigrant as well as immigrants from other ex.Yugoslav countries who wanted to see the end of that abomination of the state. Of coure Yugoslavia was a powerful state and if by any chance it succeeded to stay whole it would be the most advanced "East European" country....of course we must disregard the posibble opression of one ethnicity over the others...
