The essential problem is a European antipathy to manual labor, which is continually solved by importing cheap immigrant labor. This was done even in highly racialized states, such as Nazi Germany (

Asian nations do not have such a problem, and the people seem more willing to do "dirty work" - perhaps because of stronger xenophobic feelings. Japanese have even supplemented their labor force with robots rather than import labor.
