This sounds much more XXIst century.
But "Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty" are a Reaction to what you call "the Modern World".
It's not a substition, only an attempt to pass by the pavlovian reflexes that are deeply inserted in the citizen's mind. They were taught to bark each time they hear the name of "nation".
