Default AW: Populist Nationalism Developing Across the Western World

Populist Nationalism Developing Across the Western World
I bet this makes Egalitarian, Hippie, Maxist, Beatnik, ultra-leftwing, tutti frutti radicals so scared. I love it.

Quote:
There is a spectre haunting Europe, the spectre of nationalism. In Europe, Australia and the United States, nationalism is the new political force that the establishmentarians have begun to fear. In Europe, these days particularly, nationalism has replaced communism as the threat which unites the center-right and the center-left. In recent days all one needs to do is pick up a newspaper and the names jump out at you: LePen, Fortuyn, Haider, Kajarrlstad.
I don't think communism is replaced. I think those which are in power, the labour, greens and other far left socialist parties are communists incognito. As I've always liked the saying, a Green Party is like a watermelon, green on the outside and red in the middle.

They are so scared of these Nationalists 'upsurges' that they label them all Nazis to try to discredit them before they take hold or the populace listen to their message and agree. They know if they label them "the great and evil terror of the 20th century" then people will be less likely to give their opinions any weight. They say, "What do they know? They are just Nazis." They have used this since the end of the war.
