Default Re: Ancient DNA: Reconstruction of the Biological History of a Human Society

From what derives of this interview in 2004 (in Spanish) with the Chair of Archeology of the UPV, the characteristics of the burial might indicate some Frankish influence instead of Hispano-Gothic. This might mean that they were originally Aquitanians.

The area, which today is part of the Basque Country, was invaded by Basques around the time of the fall of Rome, as it was most of the modern territory of the Basque Country.

The dates that researchers offer for these invasions are very vague, ranging from the VIIth to the VIIIth centuries. This could indicate that it was not one big invasion but gradual invasions, which would make sense since there are no reason to believe that they were organized for a one big invasion.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
