Re: Italy in world war 2 website
If you can start posting examples, I will be happy to agree with you and discuss this topic. But like you said, you didn't even bother to read the actual information on the website.
The website is not a propaganda site, check the message board and the mission statement. The information on the website comes from Italian(mostly but not limited) history students and professors. I don't see what is so propaganda about the website when all it states are the order of command, different missions, divisions, damage done to certain nations, etc.
Regarding the Italian army in world war II, I have complied a lot of information of this over the years, and it's one of the main reasons I am a history student right now. My grandfather and all 4 of his brothers were involved in the war and their stories always caught my curiosity.
Like I have stated in the past, the Italian people cannot be blamed for the political errors of our politicians. The Italian people believed that this wasn't their war. Mussolini became hated when he threw Italy into world war II and things began to see nasty. A lot of soldiers didn't even care, they just wanted to go home. No one wanted a war.How were Italians supposed to fight at the eastern front when they were sent there wearing sandals and not even appropriate clothing?
That is just one flaw however. There is many others but there is also highlights. Like the fact that Erwin Rommel's North African campaign was carried out largely by Italian troops. Let's also not forget the famous quote by Erwin Rommel after the battle of El Alamein:
"The german soldier has shocked the World: the italian soldier has shocked the german soldier."
