Default Interview with Finnish thinker Kai Murros

This interview has benn published in the firts issue of the identitarian portuguese magazine «Identitário", published by Causa Identitária Association.

1. Mr. Kai Murros, can you tell our readers when and why did you decide to become involved in politics and how do you define yourself politically?

I have always been interested in politics and as long as I can remember I have been a nationalist. At first my nationalism was quite reactionary petty Finnish chauvinism and in economic and social questions I was a right wing liberal - in the 80's for example I was a fierce supporter of Margaret Thatcher. I had my Pan-European awakening in 1983 at the age of 14 but unfortunately I still remained a right wing liberal and a Thatcherite for many years.

The decisive change in my life came in the early 90's. I had just entered the University of Helsinki when Finland plummeted in to one of the worst economic depressions in her history. As the economic optimism and hubris of the "golden 80's" disappeared and vast amounts of Finns lost their jobs and property I realized that the doctrines of liberal economics simply weren't true. So far I had believed that the laws of the economics were like laws of
nature - objective, majestic and immanent - but now I could clearly see that it was not the case: The laws of economics were simply political propaganda, a smokescreen the liberal elite was using to protect its interests.

I realized that I had to take the leap of faith into socialist thinking. I
realized that I had to become a socialist of some sort - just what kind, only time would tell since I understood that I should be as non dogmatic as possible. In the early 90's I learned one important lesson: A nationalist must always be a socialist. Nationalism is an ideology of the collective.
Nationalism always aims at improving lives of the people as whole while liberalism tears the nation apart in order to satisfy the needs of the greedy, selfish individuals.

It was the dramatic experiences of the early and mid 90's that forced me to get involved in politics and write my first book "Revolution and How to Do It in a Modern Society".

2. You are the author of a provocative and somehow scandalous book entitled «Revolution - And How to Do It in a Modern Society». Written in the form of a manual for the members of a revolutionary party, what did you really expected to achieve with such text in a totally conformist european society?

I wanted to get as much publicity as possible with my book. Of course I could have written piles and piles of letters to news papers complaining and accusing stupid policians and greedy capitalists, but nobody would have noticed me. Therefore I had to make myself noticed, I had to kill people at least verbally and when I finally had my moment of fame I publicly named
Finnish politicians and capitalists and said that they would be arrested and thrown into prison camps after the revolution. Surprisingly enough nobody sued me for these threats.

3. In that same book you seem to clearly have three main inspirations, V.I. Lenin, Mao Tse Tung and Machiavelli. Some people labeled you as a national-bolshevik. Have you been influenced by Left-wing authors and ideas?

My book Revolution and How to Do It in a Modern Society is definitely a Marxist book. I tried to appear as dogmatic Marxist as possible only to use this Marxism as a theoretic framework for promoting my nationalist views. It was from the very beginning absolutely clear to me that I would never be accepted in the media as a nationalist per se. Finland like the entire western world is ruled by the infamous and destructive generation of the year 1968. These left liberals would crucify anyone who showed any compassion or love for native Europeans but as a leftist I was allowed to talk and spread my nationalist subtext. Some Finnish nationalists noticed this and said that Murros is allowed in TV studios to say things we never could. I can tell you I had many amusing moments as I was writing my book and leaving in the text hints that nationalists should recognize and understand.

My task was to use Marxist theory to prove that the revolution is imminent BUT IT WILL BE A NATIONAL REVOLUTION. I wanted to use the intellectual arsenal of the left against the left itself. I think I did a pretty good job, because in my opinion we can actually be very orthodox Marxists and use the methodology of historical materialism strictly and still come to the conclusion that the revolution will be NATIONAL.

My Marxist thinking was most of all inspired Mao Tse Tung simply because for Mao nationalism was always clearly a positive thing. For the Chinese the triumph of the Communist Party in the 20's, 30's and 40's was most of all a process of national liberation. This combination of socialism and open nationalism appealed to me greatly. Here in the west leftists and Marxists have always been the root cause of our self-hatred and ethno-masochism but
in China you don't see anything like that. In this sense Maoism is much healthier than Marxism of western universities.

It is true that I've been labeled as a national bolshevik. Personally I try to avoid labels because very often people who otherwise might be interested in your views simply refuse to listen because they don't like the label you carry. And on the other hand people who actually like your label sometimes tend to criticize you if you don't follow the "party line". So in order to be able to communicate as widely as possible and to retain my freedom of movement in the political struggle I try to avoid being labeled. Personally I would describe myself as a modern European nationalist. It sounds a bit
vague but I'm OK with it.

4. Some months ago you attended the New Right meeting in London and more recently the II Pan European conference in Moscow. One could find in those meetings several distinct ideological views from such different people like David Duke, TroySouthgate, Manfred Roeder or Guillaume Faye. What would you say is the political common denominator you have with them?

We all want to see the rebirth of the European civilization and our
people once again proud and confident. Of course there are many roads to National Revolution. National Revolution will reflect the history, national temperament and traditions of each invidual nation. There can never be a one single formula for National Revolution nor can there be one command center or organization for the national revolutionary process in the entire western world. Therefore we must from very early on learn to embrace this diversity and multitude of political traditions.

5. Globalism, liberalism, compulsory consumerism, immigration, ethno-masochism, we may be able to point out the several problems that afflict our societies. Throughout all these years nationalist political parties failed to achieve any satisfactory result and to attract our people’s sympathy. That led us to the eternal Leninist question: What is to be done?

Now this is a big question and we could write several books about it and still we would only scratch the surface so I try to brief:

I am an optimist. The more there is pressure the more there is need for new ideas and radically different thinking. So far people have avoided nationalist parties and nationalist issues simply because life has been materially quite comfortable. When problems have arisen people have usually managed to ignore or evade them. So far the majority of people have considered that nationalist parties do not have much to offer to them.
Partly the nationalist parties can only blame themselves but mostly this has been simply unavoidable.

But the pressure is mounting, this is absolutely clear so the question is not IF but WHEN. So far the nationalist parties have been plagued by the fact that they are in the political periphery. Being in the political periphery unfortunately also affects the character of a party and it is exactly this peripheral character of a party that usually turns people away. It is a well known psychological fact that people want to vote for winners and so often nationalist parties haven't fallen into that category.

Western nations react slowly but in the end they will react. There is no chance that pressure would ease some day, it is only going to get worse - no matter what our current political elite says or promises us things will only get worse. And finally one day we will be cornered - there will be no way out, no way of turning a blind eye to the problems or ignore them ... we have finally reached a culmination point. Once we reach this point of no return, something happens that Marx calls a qualitative leap forward. This
means that nationalism transforms from a despised and hated undercurrent into mainstream. Nationalism swoops from the political periphery right into the centre, nationalist parties suddenly seem to hold the keys to the future and nationalist marginal politics evolve to national realpolitik.

So to answer you question: What is to be done? My answer is: NOTHING.
Well, I am exaggerating a little, but my point is that we can only do our best and let history take its course. I believe in the historical process - people may not be all that aware but they are not stupid and they definitely are not suicidal... they will react and we just have to be there when it happens.

You may think that this liberal capitalist monster is invincible but just think how surprised we were when Soviet Union suddenly collapsed - who could see that coming? And it doesn't takes much to see all the cracks in the economic and social base of current liberal capitalist world. Once the economic structures of the current political and ideological system start to crumble, it forces people to re-think their values and belief systems. And we don't even need Marx to say this for it is common sense - if the old truths don't work anymore, you need to find new ones.

6. Aren’t you worried that radicalism and marginal politics may be generally perceived as a sort of a political carnival rather than realpolitik?

I guess I already answered this question as well.

7. The French thinker Guillaume Faye denounced in his polemical book “La Colonisation de l’Europe” the risk of islamization and even the ethnic and cultural annihilation of our continent if nothing stop’s the current immigration flux. Do you agree with Faye’s views or is he clearly exaggerating?

I think Mr. Faye is absolutely right. European civilization is in danger of being wiped out by the immigration influx. This avalanche of our inferiors must be stopped at any cost using any means possible. In time we will be forced to wage merciless war in order to save Europe. We must not let compassion or mercy lead us astray, we must not allow humanism to lower our guard and we must never ever allow spineless liberalism weaken our defenses.

Right now the developing world is experiencing an unprecedented explosion of population growth with no end in sight. The transfer of western medicine and technology into developing world has unfortunately made it possible for the local populations to grow more than their environment can support and the only direction where they can expand is Europe (and USA). The economic
growth that would be needed to satisfy the material needs of these growing masses is simply impossible. There are not enough natural resources left on this planet so that the developing world societies could get to the same standard of living as the West and in process also curb their population growth.

Since the developing world is a social and economic dead end for its poor masses they will seek better life elsewhere and as a result these people will now try to colonize us. We are dealing with hundreds of millions of people, who are desperately trying to get into Europe and if nothing is done they will come here, take over and turn Europe into their own image - which will be the end of all civilization as we know it. Since our own demographics are stagnant it means that we will quickly become a minority in our own continent if we try to absorb the population pressure from the developing world because it will take at the very least a century to curb this present massive growth.

This is simple biology: A population that has grown too large breaks out of its habitat and seeks more living space. As long as the expanding population manages to conquer new living space it also exterminates the indigenous species. As long as the expanding population finds more living space it only grows - this means that as long as we keep accepting immigrants from the
developing world we only add fuel to the rampant over growth of human masses. The growth ends only when the natural resources run out and there is no more additional living space to conquer - and then the population usually collapses. In short the war for the national liberation of Europe is a biological necessity, it will the most radical ecological war the world has ever seen.

Liberals and leftists believe that a fundamental demographic change such as the present one can occur without political consequences. The liberals and leftists seem to think that western societies would not lose their unique, progressive character even if they are not populated by Europeans anymore.
The liberals and leftists also seem to think that it is possible to root out and replace the Europeans without any consequences. We are about to reach the climax in the history of mankind. The next decades will decide whether we fall into the chaos of mass invasions and ecological disasters or survive and once again seize the future for our civilization.

8. In a globalized world, the traditional nation-state is passing away as large political units emerge. Europe, with all its nationalities, a recent history of “civil” wars, could be politically united in any way, or do you think that union is impossible to attain due to such thoughts as “what has the Portuguese people in common with the Finnish people”?

The problem with nationalism is that it is a matter of heart and intense passions and therefore you cannot reason out nationalism, you cannot make it grow from rational calculations. If we think rationally, it is obvious that we Europeans must create a common military-political unit in order to protect globally our vital interests. Unfortunately the rational realization of this undeniable fact doesn't immediately lead into any sense of Pan-European nationalism. After all the guiding light of the European history has so far been the constant and murderous struggle between the individual European nations. The paramount atavistic gut feeling Europeans
still have today is their loyalty to their own nation first and only then, perhaps, to Europe. The question is thus; how to create a genuine, passionately emotional sense of Pan-European nationalism.

European Union has failed in creating a sense of European nationalism for a simple reason: How could liberalist bureaucrats and lackeys of globalization manage to create any sense of nationalism, since true ethnic nationalism is the very thing they hate and abhor? European Union tries to force-feed us liberal mock-nationalism, a politically correct bastardized version of
Europe, a cross-breed of leftist humanism and multiculturalism. In many ways the former Soviet Union and European Union are very much alike - they both try to impose an artificial national identity on the people FROM ABOVE, an identity that fits the needs of the bureaucratic elite. And just as the Soviet Union failed, so will the European Union.

So will there ever be genuine passionate European nationalism? YES, we must not forget one crucial factor: The pressure from outside!!! Only when Europeans are cornered, facing the extinction of their race and total collapse of their civilization, Europeans find each others as brothers and sisters. It is a common psychological fact that near-death experiences bring people together and Europe is facing death right now. We are united by our fear and hatred towards those who wish to take our life, land and dignity.
We are united by our passion to drive away these masses of thieves, murderers and rapists. Our enemies see us as one - they don't care whether we are Finns or Portuguese or Spaniards or Swedes, they just want to attack us since we are white and European - so it is really our enemies who see us as what we are, one race, one nation, one civilization.

Of course there are also many internal factors that are driving Europeans towards deeper integration, but the decisive force is definitely the external threat. The hour of the final breakthrough for the Pan-European nationalism strikes, when Europeans are suddenly moved by strong emotions for nationalities other than their own. When Finns are enraged by the gang rapes of Swedish girls by immigrant thugs and when Norwegians are consumed by fury by the sight of burning cars in Paris, etc, etc, then we are on the right track.

9. Mr. Kai Murros, I thank you very much for the interview and I would like to put a final question, namely if you have any plans for the future, like publishing other books for instance, and if you wish to address some words to the Portuguese readers?

At the moment I hope to get my book on National Revolution translated and published in as many European languages as possible. I've been told that the French and Spanish translations are already completed, so hopefully these translations will also be discovered by publishers. I had just started translating the book also in German but unfortunately due to the tragic death
of my German friend this project ended.

My second book "Aquilon, the Quotations" is then a very different kind of approach to National Revolution and I would like to get this book as well translated and published in as many European languages as possible.

For the Portuguese readers I would like to point out that Mr. Martins just asked a very interesting question regarding the unity of the European people. Mr. Martins asked: “What has the Portuguese people in common with Finnish people"? Indeed an interesting question exactly because of all the European nations Finns and Portuguese are geographically furthest apart from each other. So what do we have in common - my answer is: Everything!

Now when Europe is struggling for survival against the greedy vile masses of intruders, we Europeans, see more clearly than ever that we share the same anxiety, fear and hatred just as we share the same blood, passion and destiny. How could Finland and Portugal be apart from each other anymore, when Finland already today is defended on the shores of Portugal.

I hope that I can somehow give my contribution to the national revolutionary movement in Portugal and it would be a great honour for me if someday Iwould be called a radical Portuguese nationalist. It is true that I have never yet visited your beautiful country and that I don't speak your language but my passion is with you. And I want to do everything I can to help you in your struggle so that Portugal and Europe could live for ever.
