This is present. And it is because past and present that the space of Irish Nationalism must be devoted to Irish Republicanism. How are they even supposed to fight off a new forecoming threat to their identity, when the old and more real threat is still much alive there?
I haven't seen the English protesting against the manouvres of the BNP (and other English parties) against the very Identity of Ireland. So I can only assume that they feel comfortable with them.
