I've been on many forums and communities with Awards through time, and I see the last time Stirpes has had awards, or considered it, is
three years ago, so I thought I'd bring the topic up?
To anyone that doesnt know what awards are - they are basically a poll/vote for a number of awards/titles, any or most titles/awards people suggest, that members that want to then vote who they think fit the best.
Example - one member suggests the "Creative" award (just an example), and if it is accepted, people then vote for which member they think fits it the best, often through PM, and the member with the most votes win the award. Another award could be less constructive, such as "Idiot of the year".
While one could endlessly blabber with arguments against it, as has been done in a previous thread about it, then I think awards are good for any forum or community - not to "popularize" the already integrated members, but to serve as a qualitative description of many members of the forum. Through time, I've seen awards that arent exactly "positive", so popularity definitely isnt the factor.
It serves as a good way to remind members of how others in the "community" perceive them, and most people generally like to get an award, for its descriptive and 'honorary' qualities, rather than simply the salutary.
So, what do you say?
