The Delegate in the Balearic Islands of the central Government of Spain, Ramón Socias, has confirmed that the Guardia Civil is investigating a new case of sexual abuse over a 10 year old girl in Majorca. Two individuals under the 18 years old and other two who are under 14, have been detained but they cannot be juridically imputed for being all under the legal age.
In his declarations to the journalists, Socias remarked that although the rape had not been committed, there had been sexual abuses. Socias recalled that two weeks ago there was another similar case in the island and that in that case a 9 year old girl had been raped by seven individuals under the legal age.
Of these seven, two have already been detained and the other five are under 14 years old and
cannot therefore be attributed the juridical responsibility derived, according to Socias.
He also pointed that
not all of them are from Northern Africa, as it was believed initially, and that there were "some Spaniards".
"We are dealing with a complex situation", admitted Socias who highlighted the young age of the victim and of the criminals. "It is a problem in which the social and education service have to act intensively, because it is worrying all this violence at such young ages", he insisted.
