If you have seen some of the ancient Egyptians own depictions of themselves, it is clear that they in many periods were dominantly Europid, and what we can assume are Nubians (depicted with negroid features and heavy, black pigmentation) were depicted as slaves who served the "real" egyptians. They depicted themselves as tan, the Libyans as very, very pale (I believe) and the Nubians as black.
