Mesić is not my president, to begin with. I consider him "mine" as much as you consider Čeda Jovanović "yours". Secondly, yes, I know that this creature Mesić has repeatedly voiced his support for the independence of Kosovo. And I always thought it was deeply wrong, because it is none of our business. The late president of Croatia Franjo Tuđman (in fact, the only true President of Croatia so far, because I don't count
the bearded creature you mentioned) always refused to meddle with the Kosovo issue for two reasons: 1) he din't want to interfere into the interior business of the neighbouring state; 2) he saw the far-reaching consequences of the breach of the international law done by infringing on a country's sovereignity in the name of "higher principles" (a dangerous precedent which in the future could be used against any other country).
And one more thing: if Mesić supports Kosovo's independence, it is not because he would be pursuing some autonomous Croatian policy, in the Croatian interest, but because it was ordered to him by the world's centers of power to do so. "Our" government are puppets, like many other European governments (Serbia not excepted in this regard). Somebody cynically remarked that Mesić seems to care more for the Kosovo's independence than for the Bosnian Croats. So he is not pro-Croatian in any meaningful sense of word.
