They claim to be legatees of Alexander the Great, so they believe they're ancient macedonians. But on the other hand the FYROM-ians proudly claim their Slavonic origins despite of the fact that the Slavonic tribes reach the Balkans at about fifth century A.C. People who died for the freedom of Bulgaria are now converted into "macedonians" by the fyromian historiography. The whole world knows that Alexander the Great had spoken Greek language and his reign was the zenith of the Hellenistic world. The whole world (or at least the Balkans) knows that VMORO (Vatreshna Makedono-Odrinska Revolucionna Organizacija) was fighting for the unification of the Bulgarian lands. I'm interested how the fyromians would explain that "O" in the VMORO abreviature (the city of Odrin or Adrianopol is approximately 500 km away of the FYROM. May be even in Odrin there is a maceonian minority
P.S Excuse me for my bad English
Don't worry, your English is pretty good.
I too consider their historical claims to be somewhat peculiar to say the least.
Well, I've never heard about the "VMORO" before. Can you provide some info about that?

P.S. We have discussed the origin of the Macedonians here, so I thought you would be interested.
