I agree. But I think what they're getting at is the fact that Catholicism still reflects some ancient ideals of strength, will-power and ethnocentrism, and that Catholic ritual is not demystified, while Calvinism puts more stress on predestination and has generally abstract theology, ritual and architecture. They seem to have taken Nietzsche's critique of modern ethics and his embrace of ancient ethics
in reverse. Nietzsche is an interesting example, because his critique of Christianity can be seen as a reaction against Protestantism.
Those ancient ideals are also to some extent a part of paganism. And of course, ancient ideals are present in the Old Testament, but also in ancient Greek literature.
