I think the Ulster-Scots are very simply Ulstermen. They could share a government with the Irishmen of the other four provinces because Ulstermen (of whatever background) are very practical people and could see the advantage of sharing a government with their fellow Irishmen rather than the multicultural remains of Princess Tony's "Cool Britannia".
I also think their sense of humour and friendliness is far more Irish than Lowland Scots.
