The other thinker is the Identitarian Guillaume Faye, who developed the Archeofuturist ideology, which predicts that the historical nations of Europe will be forced to find their roots again or they will perish.
These kind of statements are basically right. However, it is mandatory to ask what does Faye --or, in general, the Identitarians-- mean when he speaks of roots.

In my opinion the mistake of the Identitarians is that they present an idea of roots and identity of little substance. At the same time they pretend these 'items' to be common to Europe as a whole. Nothing that others haven't done before.

As it is made clear later in the text:
Quote:
Faye predicts that [...] the European nations must [either] re-invent themselves and find their arhaic values if they are at all to have a chance to survive the situation
(I've put 'either' in between brackets, as I believe that it must be an error in the translation)

Wasn't Europe 're-invented' before, through the Anglo-American construct of Western and the Soviet of Eastern? To which end?
And it was 're-invented' times before through history, with no luck.

There are enough differences from south to north and from west to east, and then all variance starting at those, to make any idea of Europe beyond that of a common geopolitical space of ethnopolitical identities, which are different enough one from each other, to attempt to work outside from those basic foundations.

And, in effect, haven't we seen enough evidence of the differences between the peoples of Europe? I could give a few examples which many here will no doubt remember, much unpleasantly. I have come to reaffirm myself into that conclusion, through the experience of running a community for all Europeans.

At the same time one must ask what possibilities open up, what in the liberal ideology can we use to our benefit (for example ethnic kindergardens, which no individualist liberal should argue against).
I have put forward at different places a proposal which could start the bases for such a line of action. After much considerations, if you asked me if it could be implemented Europe wide, right now I'd say no.
