A unified Occitanian culture? I know that that's not right. It is a jacobine view of Occitania.

Which is funny because the leftist "occitanists" have this jacobine view of Òc (incidentally, one could easily argue that the Breton independentists have a somehow similar jacobine view of a unified Brittany, with respect to the Gallo territories of modern Brittany).

But, overall, it is well differed from the [Oïl] France.

I am from a region where it is traditionally anti-French. Where there are still family stories about the "War of the French" (we don't call it "War of Independence", as in the rest of Spain). I've grown up in a society where there were French who were systematically rejected, and "French" who were systematically accepted. What I didn't know as a child was that those "French" who were systematically accepted (without a need for "assimilation"), were in fact Occitans.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
