Russia is an artificial state, in my opinion. It should be transformed into a mono-ethnic state with important minorities present and having their cultural autonomy or, perhaps, a confederation of several Russian states. Traditionally Muslim or Buddhist peoples should secede with territories they occupy and never be a part of Russia. Of course, it's easier said than done. Actually, no political party in Russia would dare to subscribe to such political manifesto at present.

This makes sense to me.

What about a federal system in the Swiss or Canadian style? Would that be an improvement?
