Default Re: Welsh dragon call for Union flag

The Union Jack represents the union of three kingdoms: England, Scotland and Ireland. Wales is a principality. Three out of four provinces (plus three counties) of the Kingdom of Ireland are now a Republic, so the Union Jack is looking a little wobbly.

We already live in a culture obsessed with symbol over substance; this flag debate is just another symptom. I myself am not very interested in "flagism" or "mapism". I am most interested in the organic civil society of nationhood.

If the current UK wants to change its flag then it should also take a look at its political institutions. I myself would rather live in a representative state with an anachronistic flag than an anachronistic state with a representative flag.
