Albanians view independence as the solution to all their problems. All their leaders say is independence. Their politicians don't tell them how they will create jobs and so forth. Their piolitical leaders refused to acknowledge that 70% of their trade is with Serbia directly or indirectly, that 90% of their exports and imports come through Serbian territory, that if they were to declare independence they would owe Serbia 1.2 billion euros in debt (an amount equal to the size of their economy) and that Serbia would never write it off, or that the only product they have to sell to the world (electricity) they couldn't export since they would have to use the Serbian power grid. No one would invest in Kosovo since they do not have enough electricity to meet their demand and they refuse to get electricity from Serbia, or that the majority of businesses in Kosovo pose a risk of lawsuit due to them being confiscated illegally from Serbs by NATO. Not only that but the Albanian politicians fail to tall them that 80% of all coal reserves in Kosovo are in the serb north.

The simple fact is that Kosovo is not viable as an independent state. Their is no legal way for them to obtain independence. And should the Albanians try to unilaterally delcare independence (i.e. no more negotiations after Dec. 10) they will face a scenario like northern cyprus (which is likely what the west wants as they could blackmail Serbia by sayibng - "do as we say or we will blackmail you").

Their is nothing Russia can do. The only thing Russia can do were if the Radical Party in Serbia put forth a resolution declaring unilateral union with Russia and it were approved by 2/3's of parliament. However, even if the Radical Party were to do that it wouldn't get enough support since most parties here are EU puppets.

Basically to summarize it. It has as much viability as a state as the Serbs in Croatia did with their RSK experiment.
