my point is - red wine ... has anyone ever tried the south african varieties? they haven't quite yet reached grand cru status, but they make fine red wines. you normally tell them from the rubber stoppers, as opposed to cork.
A few in Stellenbosch years ago. KWV comes to my mind but also another SA wine that I can't remember now. I'm no fan of the New World wines. They lack the characteristics of the wines produced in Europe.
