Default Round and round they go.. [Culturism, aka Westernism, aka ...]

Culturism's chapter on the definition of the West grounds this identity in history. We start with Achilles, go to Socrates, Jesus, Martin Luther, George Washington and Martin Luther. This trajectory is shown to be unique by contrasting it with the more collectivist and racist Asian identities as well as the theocratic Muslim identity.

A complaint culturists have with multiculturalists is that they do not take diversity seriously. They believe that all, at heart, are progressives in the tradition outlined above. The chapter on anthropology shows that human sacrifice, abusing women and drug use can be stable sources of cultural identity. Opposition to terrorists and Mexican drug lords cannot be taken for granted. If we do not practice culturism, Socrates' ideal of political probing will be lost.
