My suggestion would be a wine made from the grape variety
Merlot. We have some excellent
merlots here from the area of
Somontano, and since they are not [yet] as well known as the wines from
Rioja, Ribera del Duero, etc, they price is still good in comparison.
Italians do have some good white wines, but in my opinion they fail much in red wines.
