Re: Wine
My favorite grape varieties are:
a.) RED: Tempranillo, Syrah, Malbec.
b.) White: Gewurtztraminer, Albariño, Verdejo, Chardonay, Malmsey (malvasía).
I have tasted excellent refined Spanish wines, as well as Argentinian ones.
South African, Turkish and Australian wines can be very pleasent.
Morrocan white wines can be pleasent but red are terrible.
German and most central european wines are pure chemistry
I have never tasted excellent Italian wines, nor Portuguese and you need to pay much to much to get a good French wine.
Regarding Spanish wines, I would say:
a.) Red wine: Ribera de Duero & Rioja, both TEMPRANILLO areas, are my favorite. Somontano and Toro are also nice.
b.) White Wine: Albariños, Ruedas, and Canarish wines are the best in my opinion.
Regarding sweet wines, I have to beloved ones:
a.) Canarian Sweet Malvasía.
b.) Pedro Ximenez, prefently from Montilla-Moriles area.
