. i have been in Estonia two times. The estonians are a wonderful people ,a very outgoing and talkative people IMO more talkative than many Swedes and Finns. The worst thing in Estonia is the Russians (hate to say it.).criminality, drug smuggling, car thefts und so weiter. One of my friends had her bag stolen by a gang of russians. My experience with russians in Estonia was nothing but negative. "i feel more comfortable with estonians because they are almost identical with the Nordic cultures when it comes to views, customs, behaviour, and phenotype-wise.

Don't Karelians have more influence from Russians?

Not that much. But if you call byzantium influence russian than yes.A orthodox monastery called Valamo in Karelia was founded in the 10th century by a Greek monk, Sergius, and his Karelian companion, Herman.many old orthodox monesteries is to be found in Karelia. finnic tribes controlled the water ways and trade in russia for a long time and byzantium influence was quite strong especially on the Finnic tribes living in Volga and eastern europe.
