I would be cautious about what this social democrat Helle Thorning-Schmidt wants to achieve. If Danish social democrats are pretty much like Swedish social democrats, I would figure this: She wants to get some credit for involving the public in decisions about something, that she hopes they will say yes to in the end. Namely a handover of power to the EU.
