Likewise, I just suck in bargaining. I dont think there are fixed prices in many countries with traditional tipping system. Tipping is mandatory extra-costs and it varies.
If you take a look of CPI (corruption index) there's remarkable correlation between tipping and corruption. I'm not saying that tipping is such a bad thing but it's like tip of the iceberg.
Least corrupted nations are all no-tipping countries (Finland, Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark etc).
