in 1919 while Poland was engaged in war against Bolshevik Russia 66% of the area was then annexed by Czechoslovakia

The land was also Polish before the partitions, and the majority of the population was also Polish.

One should also understand that another reason was to strengthen Polish positon(militarily) in the south, seeing as how Poland was now surrounded by Germans on three sides.
