I wasn't talking about nationalist activists, but about the observed trends of thinking and perceiving the world in the general population, namely, that those with families tend to have more nationalistic general attitudes.
As regards activists, well, there can be some of them who choose a life-style without family, out of dedication for the cause, in order not to be distracted by family concerns. Although I think it's best for every man and woman to marry, I respect also this choice of celibacy for some higher goal, what is akin to the celibacy in the Catholic Church (I support the priestly celibacy). But it will always be matter of few outstanding individuals in every community/society, while it is the best for the great majority of people to marry.

Perhaps one reason is that in the political parties there is a failure to create a real sense of community beyond the strictly party activities. Not that there is the only failure. And not that this is the only reason.

Yes, the sense of community is lacking in all countries. Possibly one of the reasons for such failures.
Community vs. society? I tend to believe that the former is better from the standpoint of the national preservation.
A sense of community should be renewed. Nation as community of destiny.
