Proved? Hardly. There are theories, yes, but there is no proof. The Thraco-Dacian theory is equally valid if not even more as it shows direct linguistic link between what is considered direct remanant of Dacian romanized speech (Romanian and Vlach) and Albanian dialects.
Albanians showed absolutly no clue about their supposed Illyrian origin. It was in fact by others suggested that they might be of Illyrian origin because they didn't knew where to place them because Albanian stands alone in the group of Indo-European languages. The same theory is used today by Albanian nationalists and chauvinists to claim territory.

The term Albanians originates from the Illyrian tribe Albanoi who occupied what is now Central Albania. Overall Albanians are a mix of Illyrian, Dacian, Thracian, and Pelasgian.

The term 'Albanians' comes from the the latin 'Alba' which means 'mountain' or 'white'. Albania = land of the mountains; white land.
IMO Albanians are of Thraco-Dacian origins with strong Epirotan Hellenistic and Romanic elements.
