It's interesting that you bring this up. The other day I was thinking to myself about the statue of Viriato in Zamora which, I believe, Mynydd posted a picture of in one of the other topics. Since seeing this picture I have wondered why Viriato was portrayed with what I have interpreted as the Roman salute:
